10342 Lorenzo Drive

Located in Cheviot Hills, the hilly, perennially both fashionable and respectable golf-course-adjacent neighborhood located on the southern end of the Westside, 10342 Lorenzo Drive, an elevated home whose design melds Eastern pragmatism with Western cool, is a Hamptons hued space from which to ascend, escape, enjoy, up from the bustle of Pico, Olympic, Santa Monica, Wilshire, Sunset Boulevards. The front façade, a Prairie-School-influenced composition complete with “Maibec Eastern white cedar shingles,” rough board-formed concrete, large, dark metal windows, and long linear railings, offers many tactile and aesthetic pleasures.

Once inside the home, a large, expansive space where uses are delineated by alcoves, the glass encased stairs, a three-sided fireplace, and a small, jewel box courtyard. The blonde, beautiful wide plank oak floors create, together with the expanses of glass and warm white walls, a welcoming sense of establishment and truly being at home, or at least in residence.

The upstairs, similarly luxurious in its use of vast open spaces, provides treehouse views of the surrounding flora, fauna, and neighbors walking  the sweeping, sycamore lined T-intersection below. The surrounding homes, either newly or soon to be rebuilt from the ground up, set behind succulents, white picket fences, green lawns, hedges of green.

The ground floor garage level contains additional space to provide guests, entertainment, or, as it includes a separate, private entrance, and relatives.

The rear yard, encompassing two distinct levels, includes ample hexagonal tilework and an infinity-edge pool. However, the wonderful cedar shingles on the public façade have not been carried through onto the rear of the home, creating a bald patch, a complete opposite to the admirably quaffed front. There are some things money can fix, however.

10342 Lorenzo Drive is a 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom, 4,750 square foot home located on a 7,507 square foot lot. The property is currently listed by  Christopher Danna and Leyla Blumenfeld of Nest Seekers for $4,770,000.
